Mexican company Depresa created a refrigerator made clay!
It can preserve food without electricity and refrigerate up to 8º C.
The principle is the same as with clay filters, which keep the water always fresh…
The idea is so good that it has spread and companies in India and Morocco have launched a similar product. The fans are for this initiative to reach several countries, including Brazil.
How it works
The refrigerator has two clay containers. They are separated by a thick layer of earth and sand.
To cool down, just leave the object in half shade.
Gradually, water evaporates the sand, which causes the temperature to drop to -8 ºC.
Thus, groceries can be kept for a longer period of time.
The process is very similar to clay filters that we know very well. The difference is that the space is larger, enough to store fresh food for up to three days.
